GMC vehicles have a huge range of installed and available safety features to make driving safer than ever before. As your GMC dealer, we want to tell you about some of the GMC safety features that protect you when you’re on the road.

Following Distance Indicator

This system uses sensors to determine the distance between your GMC and any vehicle ahead of you. It calculates your speed compared to the other vehicles and shows the gap between you in seconds. This enables you to determine if you need to slow down to maintain a safe following distance.

Front Pedestrian Braking

Pedestrians can step in front of your vehicle with very little warning when you’re driving in an urban or suburban area. It can happen so fast that you can’t react in time. This feature sounds an alarm and automatically applies hard braking to prevent or reduce the effect of a collision. An available feature expands this system to include identifying and reacting to bicycle riders.

Front and Rear Parking Assist

Most drivers hate parallel parking, and this feature steps in to assist you. Sensors in the front and rear continually scan for any solid objects in your path. If they detect an object, you instantly receive audio and visual warnings so you can correct your angle of approach.

Automatic Parking Assist

This system takes parking to the next level, as it searches for parallel or perpendicular parking spaces and steers your GMC safely into them. It controls your steering and gives you directions during the process to brake and accelerate. Parking has never been easier.

Blind Zone Steering Assist

Blind zones are a major headache when you’re driving, as they’re difficult or even impossible to easily view. This can make driving dangerous, as you have to guess if it’s safe to move into another lane. This feature utilizes sensors and radar to scan all blind zones for approaching vehicles.

It reacts almost instantly to warn you of a potential accident situation so you can prevent it. It also automatically turns the steering wheel away from the source of danger.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Reversing can be dangerous, and you have to focus even harder than you usually do to check and recheck there are no vehicles or pedestrians nearby. These sensors scan for any approaching object and provide audio and visual warnings to prevent an accident.

This system has an available feature that instantly applies hard braking if a vehicle or pedestrian triggers a rear traffic alert.
