Lake Spring Park

If you’re looking for a scenic drive, Lake Spring Park is the perfect place to go. This beautiful, scenic park is located right beside Lake Smith and is a great place to go for a walk, hike, or bike ride. You can also fish in Lake Smith or enjoy a picnic while you listen to the sounds of the water. Lake Spring Park is also home to the only Virginia State Park Naturalist Program in the Roanoke Valley.

The Naturalist Program offers a variety of lectures, workshops, and guided activities for all ages. These include Full Moons on the Lake, Stargazing, and Hot Air Balloon Rides. These events are offered seasonally, so be sure to check the calendar before you head out.

Smith Mountain Lake State Park

Located about an hour from Salem at 1235 Rd 888, Huddleston, Smith Mountain Lake State Park is a must-see for outdoor enthusiasts. The park offers a wide variety of outdoor recreation and is a great place to go boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, paddle boarding, and swimming.
